Entertainment Alternatives in Lubbock, TX

In Lubbock you will be able to enjoy a variety of entertainment and see various attractions of all sorts. If you visit the National Ranching Heritage Center, you will be able to get a glimpse of Lubbock's historical ranch buildings, a railroad depot and various other buildings, as well as getting to see the extensive collection of older weapons that are on display.

The Depot District is an area of the city that is dedicated to music and nightlife, and is located conveniently in the old railroad depot area and contains a number of theatres, high-class restaurants and many other cultural attractions. The Depot District is also the home to several shops, pubs and nightclubs, a radio station, a brewery, a salon, and many other fine establishments. Many of the buildings that the shops are in were remodeled from the original Fort Worth & Denver South Plains Railway Depot, which originally stood on the site. The Depot District also contains the Buddy Holly Center, a museum that is dedicated to the life and music of Buddy Holly.

The Science Spectrum is a wonderful interactive museum, whose special focus is on children and youth, and contains an IMAX Dome theatre.

There is also the Mackenzie Park that is home to Joyland Amusement Park, Prairie Dog Town, and contains both a disc golf, and regular golf course. The park also holds the American Wind Power Center and Windmill Museum, which contains over 100 historic windmills on 28 acres.

For those that are more focused on the sports selection of entertainment, you will be able to watch the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team. The men and women's basketball teams are also very popular in Lubbock. High school athletics of all sports also feature as a high event in the local culture.

Lubbock is also the home of the Cotton Kings, a hockey team in the Southwest Division of the Central Hockey League, and Chaparrals of Lubbock Christian University.

Outside of the college and high school sports teams, there are other events that are available for you to enjoy like bicycling, disc golf, and in-line skating that are all very popular.
